This course bridges the gap between the body’s physiological trauma state and the use of therapeutic touch. Participants will learn about Polyvagal Theory, the nervous system’s response to stress and trauma, and how this lens can inform their clinical practice to enhance therapeutic outcomes and therapist well-being. Class participants will learn to identify non-verbal cues that signal a shift in nervous system response, how to apply neuro-specific massage therapy techniques, implement a calm and safe environment, and practice self-regulation in order to stay grounded and avoid burnout.
